Girls Deserve Better (GDB) is a grassroots organization dedicated to creating an awareness of the many challenges facing girls in our nation and around the world every day. GDB was created by a licensed mental health counselor and mother of three girls who envisions a world that cares about the environment we are creating for our young women—a world that believes that girls deserve better than poverty, mental health disorders, sexual abuse and assault, exploitation and sexualization by the media, relational aggression, eating disorders, gender inequality and underachievement in schools, dropping out of school, prostitution, delinquency, teen pregnancy, human trafficking, low self-esteem and self-abuse.Girls Deserve Better’s mission is to inspire and motivate change because girls really do deserve better than what we, as a collective society, are providing them. We believe that each and every one of us has a civic responsibility to implement change--in our homes, our families, our schools, our governments, and in our communities. GDB is about providing girls with a voice and changing lives, one girl at a time.
